Mother’s Day will be celebrated this
coming Sunday. While it is to be a joyful day of honoring
mothers, it is sadly not so for everyone, whether there is grief
for a mother who have passed away, an estrangement between an
mother and her child or any number of other reasons, lets be
mindful of that and offer a special prayer for them.
Happy birthday and God’s blessings to
Kobi McWhirter and Ethan Boatner on Monday, May 11th,
and to Monica Topcik on Wednesday, May 13th.
The elders will meet on Saturday, May
16th. If you have any concerns, please speak to an
elder in advance of their meeting
A congregation meeting will be held
BETWEEN Bible class and worship on Sunday May 31st
with the main item of business being the election of officers.
The reason it is being held then is Isla Margaret Bonner will
receive the Rite of Holy Baptism during worship, and the
McMaster family like to share a meal with all worshippers
following the service. A sign-up sheet for those planning to
stay and enjoying fellowship with Elyse, Kam and their families
will be put out next week.
Rev. Dr. Jason Broge’s Lutheran Hour
sermon on Sunday is titled “The King Who Reigns” and is based on
Luke 24:36-53. His sermon tells us that if Easter tells us that
Jesus the King has won, then Ascension tells us that the King is
reigning, and that His reign is good.
Lutherans For Life quote: If you’re a
single parent, don’t count yourself out…If you are widowed or
divorced, don’t count yourself out. If you’ve never married,
don’t count yourself out. We sinners are all in this together.
We want to see the relevance of faith in our daily lives. We
hear the religious talk and we humbly ask ‘How does this apply
to me?’ The answer is that the glory of Christ’s resurrection is
for us all. It continues the message of forgiveness and hope we
experience each time we gather together. Rev. Dr. Dale Meyer,
Speaker Emeritus of “The Lutheran Hour”
Verse of the week: Alleluia. We know
that Christ being raised from the dead will never die again;
death no longer has dominion over him. Alleluia. In the world
you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the
world. Alleluia. Romans 6:9; John 16:33b
Serving on Sunday are: Nick Salisbury
– elder, Lisa Bielefeld and John Holliday – ushers, Kelly Miller
– music, and Doris Hom – communion clean up.
The 69th Regular
Convention of the LCMS is in July. Pastor has plans to attend
it. At the Convention, the 2026-2029 National Offering will
begin to be collected. This offering directly benefits ongoing
domestic work carried out at the local level by LCMS
congregations, districts and Recognized Service Organizations
and supported by LCMS Family Ministry, Yourth Ministry, Campus
Ministry and School Ministry. If you would like to contribute to
the National Offering, please place your gift in the offering
plate, earmarked for National Offering. Any offerings will be
mailed as one offering from our congregation.
Remember the canned food drive for
Wesley House that will run through the end of May. Any donations
should be put on the table in the first classroom on your left
as you enter the church. Regular sized canned goods are what is
needed.
Kobi’s surgery went well this
morning, and she is at home recovering. We give thanks to God
for that blessing.
Blessings,
Lynn
